See the St. Clair Aeronauts at the 2014 Bay Area Maker Faire

You too can meet Capt. St. Clair and his crew! Be a Part of History....Alternate History!

We hope to have a area in the San Mateo Maker Faire for the StClair Aeronauts Steampunk Airmail Delivery Service.

We'll have parchment paper and pen and ink. We'll have Airmail stamps circa 1883. We'll have envelope paper and envelope patterns (we'll even have a little glue!). And, of course, we will have our fearless crew of Delivery persons in Uniform to deliver your precious messages!

So come by, and write a letter to someone at the event. You can pen a criptic message, or start a short story in the middle of the action. Make your envelope, address it and add a stamp and we'll make every effort to deliver it that day.

You'll hear our crew wandering Maker Faire exclaiming. "Airmail, Airmail Delivery for...." Just imagine your own name there and take home a memento of the 2014 Maker Faire.

Or, if you don't care to write a letter, come sit in the parlor and watch the busy world go by and bustling airmail delivery persons go about their business... and be sure to bring your camera to snap some action shots with a few useful steampunk props and members of the crew!

See Pictures of the St. Clair Aeronauts in action HERE

See Video of First Mate, Mrs. St.Clair HEREHERE and HERE (about 2 minutes in)

Dashiell Hammett Day in SF

Hey all you Literary, Noir and 40's Enthusiasts!

Join us for a day to celebrate Dashiell Hammett, famous author of the Maltese Falcon and other books. We'll dress in our Noir/1940's best, take the walking tour described in The Dashiell Hammett Tour by Don Herron (http://www.donherron.com/?page_id=501), and end up at the famous John's Grill (http://www.johnsgrill.com/) for fancy retro drinks and maybe an early dinner.

Here are some links to inspire your fashion choices for the day. All the info you need below. Please RSVP so we know to expect you.

Dashiell Hammett Day

When: February 16th, 1pm-5pm.

Where: Meet n.w. corner of the new main library at 100 Larkin in San Francisco’s Civic Center (n.w. corner is closest to the intersection of Fulton & Larkin, marked with a giant revolving “L” sculpture) — if this corner is blocked off for some huge event (it happens, it happens), the n.w. corner of McAllister & Larkin a block north is the backup.

The plan: Look Fabulous, Learn about Dashiell Hammett and his several fantastic literary contributions to the Noir genre, wander around San Francisco, end up at John's Grill the better to enjoy fancy beverages and an early dinner (around 3pm when they are less busy).

What to Bring:
  • Wayward Friends and Family
  • Enthusiasm for Noir literature
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Your best Retro duds
  • Money for food and beverages
  • A camera to capture the moment
Cheers!
